Prior to establishing Amana Model Secondary School (AMSS), the founders, through a legally registered civil society organization called Amana Youth Development Network (AYDN), have implemented Practice-Based Science Education Project. 

Through this project, AYDN successfully conducted free training programs for chemistry teachers at three private schools in Addis Ababa.

AYDN also collaborated with Wolkite University to conduct the Practice-Based Science Education Project in the Guraghe Zone of the former South Ethiopia Peoples’ Regional State. The two-day training, in which more than 30 educators from various woredas of the zone have participated, was conducted at the Chemistry Laboratory of the Wolkite University. The training sessions were greatly beneficial to the participants.
